The next leg of the trip took us to Paris--La Ville Lumiere! We only had one day to do sightseeing, because our plane to Casablanca was at 9:30 pm. We seized the opportunity!
The view from our hotel room. |
First we saw Notre Dame, as it was the closest to the hotel. Fortunately we got there early enough that there was hardly any line.
A statue of Charlemagne. |
The doors were enormous... |
As was the interior! |
The picture is blurry, but I love the Three Wise Men. |
There was a timeline of how it probably looked through the years. |
And there were two models of the Cathedral inside. |
St. Therese |
St. Thomas Aquinas |
St. Joan of Arc, or in French Jeanne d'Arc, patron of France |
The conversion of Paul, I believe. |
Next we went to the Louvre. We considered going inside, but the line was so long it wasn't worth it. The outside was gorgeous, though!
If you look closely, you can see the Arc de Triomph through this arch. |
And of course, what would a trip to Paris be without the Eiffel Tower?
It was rainy, so there was a huge puddle reflecting the Tower. |
We also went to a fancy French restaurant for lunch, which was delicious!
The whole experience was wonderful. After all this we got a cab to the Orly Airport. Our flight was late enough that it was dark as we were leaving, and Tessie and I spotted the Eiffel Tower when we were in the sky.
Next Post: Casablanca!
